A Beginners Guide to Home Tutor

Getting Started

Parent Portal

Welcome to Home Tutor — we’re excited to support your child’s learning journey!

After creating your account, you’ll be directed to the Parent Portal. This is your central hub for managing your child’s education. From here, you can:

Create and manage student accounts

Assign work and learning activities

Track progress through real-time reports

Review performance on assessments and learning plans

Before your child can access the platform, you’ll need to create their student account. Once set up, they’ll be able to sign in independently at any time — until the account is manually deleted.

Student First Sign-In

When your child signs in for the first time, they’ll be taken to the Student Dashboard. This is their personalised space where they can:

Start learning plans and activities

Take assessments

Read instructions and educational content

Track their own progress

The first activity they’ll complete is the diagnostic assessment — a core feature of Home Tutor. This assessment determines their current skill level and identifies strengths and learning gaps. It’s used to personalise their educational journey and tailor content to their individual needs.

Monitoring and Managing Progress

Once the diagnostic is complete, a customised learning plan will be automatically generated. This plan targets areas where your child needs improvement, helping them work toward — and often beyond — their current grade level.

As a parent, you will:

Receive regular progress updates

View subject-specific performance insights

Be able to identify focus areas that may need extra support

Adjust or assign additional tasks based on your goals

The Parent Portal empowers you to take an active role in guiding your child’s development, whether it’s catching up or accelerating their learning.
